Alec Brewer, Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Co-founder of Transfoam LLC, Alec has spent over three years engaged in the Charlottesville biotech and entrepreneurship networks, developing technical solutions to gait irregularities, elderly fall prevention, financial literacy, and homelessness. He is a 2020 BMES MINDS Scholar and a two time founder. Alec contributes to successful day to day operation and long term business planning/development as Transfoam accelerates towards its pilot sales program.

Simonne Guenette, Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Co-founder of Transfoam LLC, Simonne has worked for three years leading independent research in microbiology and synthetic biology labs and is a 2020 UVA Biology Schwager Scholar. She is passionate about innovating sustainable solutions at the intersection of computation and microbiology. Simonne spends most of her time working  on strain modification and design to manipulate cell metabolism.

Kobe Rogers, Founder & Chief Operations Officer

Co-founder of Transfoam LLC, Kobe has two years experience exploring extraction and chemical analysis techniques in organic chemistry and synthetic biology labs. He has developed protocols to efficiently and sustainably introduce the waste carbon source to the bacteria and extract PHB from our cells. Kobe will use this experience to improve material performance and certify our PHB in order to meet consumer and manufacturer needs.

Dr. Keith Kozminski

Co-founder, Dr. Kozminski is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Virginia. He earned his PhD at Yale University in the field of cell biology and completed post-doctoral training at the University of California at Berkeley in the field of genetics. He is co-Director of SynBio@UVA, the synthetic biology research community at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Mark Kester

Co-founder, Dr. Kester is a Professor of Pharmacology and the Director of the NanoSTAR Institute of the University of Virginia. He was the G. Thomas Passananti Professor of Pharmacology at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine and the inaugural Director of the Penn State Center for NanoMedicine and Materials. He is co-Director of SynBio@UVA.
